A Silver Epitaph
Walking along a lonely road, A pony came trotting by. He raised his head And nickered a greeting, As he gazed into my eyes.
I stood there, startled, As I looked into his orbs. In there I saw grief and sorrow, As I wondered about his past.
Dappled grey body, With a silky mane and tail. He lowered his head And nickered sadly, As he turned around to go.
I gazed at him sorrowfully, Wondering where he could go. Staring at his retreating figure, My heart suddenly broke.
I found I could not leave him, In this cold and cruel world. I lifted my head and whistled, As my heart started to glow.
The silvery pony Halted in his tracks. He turned around, ears pricked, Eyes alight with hope.
Dashing towards me, He rested his head on my shoulder. I hugged him tight, Vowing never to leave him.
“I name you silver,” I said, Holding him close. And in that moment I knew, Each was destined for the other.
Six and ten years ago that was, But I still remember as if it were yesterday. Thanks you for listening to my words of sorrow, To my dear, departed horse.
Yesh... A poem I made up with my sis while running XD Comments are appreciated.
