Fantasma saw one of his loves coming up to him, and he could tell that she was concerned. He would not lie to her, for he would never do that to anyone. Still, he had sworn to secrecy with his son. Hemlock needed to have time to think without his mother prodding around where she wanted to. "He has gone to pay his friends a visit in the mountains," he said happily, glad that he had thought of a good way to express the truth.
The king hoped inside that she asked nothing else, but she was a good mother. She most likely would. No secrets would he keep from her if she directly asked him if he was going to see Melody. Fantasma had not lied to anyone in his life, for he had pure motives. The king smiled to her, regardless of trying to cover up for his son's love for the filly that he apparently adored.

Nightshade
The black fae blinked her eyes, before looking at Fantasma with a knowing expression of amusement and mock hopelessness.
"More than friends, and you know it as well as I do. Those two together could probably wreak more havoc than a pack of wolves who haven't eaten in years." she said, laughing a bit and nipping him gently. "Melody, isn't it? He's hardly talked about anyone else since we left the Gemdas. The only other two he mentioned were you, and Zandere, who he seems to view as both friend, brother, and very, very bitter rival over Melodia's attention."
She shrugged, nibbling at some of the sweet, late spring grass before continuing. "It would have been a better idea if you had cautioned him more before he left. I wouldn't be surprised if he returned with a few bloody marks, maybe burns. From what I saw, neither has been raised that way, but you know better than I what will happen when young love is rejected."
