Loving and kind, Gentle as a warm Summer's night, Men cause me fear, Though I know they cannot follow me here.
Through the night I moved, a powerfully built hellion filly. Daughter of the starlight, and Cadifor the king. I was no ordinary mare, my coat seemed to sparkle from my flames and the starlight falling upon it.
Three years had now since passed since the day of my birth. Winter yet again had come, and with it I returned to the land of my father. For the last year I had been missing, seeing as men had taken me.
I knew though as I jogged through the hard knee deep snow that my father would welcome me back home. How could he not, knowing that my mother would know me when she saw me?
Sure enough a black shadow came towards me and I stopped.
"Is that you, Dark Flames?" asked the one most loved voice in the whole land.
"Yes, mother, it is I."
"You have grown so much, I did not think you would take after me anymore. You're more the height of your father, and as strongly built as he is."
"Yet I retain your pure black body," I chuckled. "I am a good mixture between the pair of you."
"It is good to see you back here," Starlight Moon added, she smiled at me, then nipped me gently. "Come along, I'll get you back to the herd."
"I shall not stay for very long mother. I seek a life of my own now."
