If music be the food of love, Sing on, sing on Sing on, sing on 'Till I am filled, am filled with joy
Your eyes, your mien Your tongue declare That you, are music everywhere
It had been a long, long time since they had ever seen a place like this. It was so large, and she felt like she could breathe for once since the birth of her daughter. Today, the mist settled low upon the ground, her head barely peering over it. It was so early, and they had gotten here in good time. There were kings everywhere, trying to get more to join their herd. Maybe they would help them out. There were lots of trees scattering the territory, and it seemed as if all life relied on the river for help. She had been the river for her daughter, and now it was time to let go, to let her go her own separate way. She would not be an adult for a year, but she wanted her to explore a little before going off on her own.
Monila was a bright chestnut pinto, standing out from all the other horses in the river. Her ivory marks were intricate and beautiful to the eye. All four of her legs were pure sparkling white, and there was white on her face, trickling down to the pink on her soft nose. Her ears were perked and ready to meet whoever was near. Monila's eyes showed age and experience, two good things in judging who and where they would go. She saw through many who were fake, unlike her daughter. She would have to help Tiana with her decision, but she probably listen. She rarely did.
The beautiful young fae trotted in, her head held up high as she smiled to them all. It was true, she was a little bit of a show off, but Tiana believed that all beautiful mares should at least be pleased with their looks. Tiana was petite and smaller than most everyone in the lands. She was a pretty light bay, with more beautiful markings than her mother could have dreamed of having. Her face was decorated with the beautiful white, and her eyes shone with desire and joy. The both stepped to stay under a blossoming apple tree, waiting for themselves to catch one's interest.

Sorrel The tall chestnut stallion with the white spot on his nose and three white socks moved through the trees. It was time he brought home another mare. He had not really gotten all that many in his time, but this was to be expected. There were many stallions here that he did not know about any more. So many of them younger than him. It mattered not, he only wanted the mares to find the right home for them. If he knew that they were not happy where they ended up, well he would either fight for them or sneak them from that unhappy place into his peaceful paradise. Spotting the mare and younger one, he moved towards them. "Greetings, faes, I am Sorrel."

The large mare, heavily pregnant with her soon to be born foal, walked forward, judging the stallion before her. It was an art that she was considered a master at. She was aged twelve years, and they had done her well. He was tall and older, like herself. From what she could see, he was kind, and from what she had heard in her time roaming, he was a king. "Greetings, Sorrel, king of Vernien En' Seere," she said, smiling to him. Monila was modest, unlike her daughter, who would do anything to please a stallion. They were very different but very alike. It was unlikely that they would like the same stallion. Tiana would want someone young and fun, like herself. Monila, on the other hand, just wanted a peaceful place to live.
The smaller, petite fae moved proudly next to her mother, snorting slightly as she saw the huge stallion. "Hello, Sorrel. I am Tiana," she said shyly, not ever seeing someone so huge in her life except for the hellions. She smiled, trying not to seem so nervous. He seemed older and more laid back. Tiana wanted someone who could have fun too! She bowed to him as her mother said he was a king. Tiana wondered how her mother knew such things. Monila seemed to know everything to her. One day, she knew, she would be that wise. It wasn't something on her agenda today though.

Sorrel "Greetings, Monila and Tiana. It is a pleasure to meet you both," the stallion replied, smiling lightly. Though he seemed older when it came to his wisdom, he was a very fun horse to be around. Though peace was something he was starting to want, he knew that you could not have everything in life. "That would be my homeland indeed." He chuckled, knowing that there was nothing that he would not do for someone who was interested in being in his herd. Sure he was getting older, but his wisdom was certainly greater than his true age.
Sigaf The fun loving black stallion moved through the woods. he had heard Sorrel talking to someone, a pair of mares by the sound of things. Well, he would not pass up the chance to add to his herd this time. Even if it was his own king that was interested in them both. He moved towards them, tossing his head with the star and knew when he saw them that the younger one would be the one for him. "Sorrel, my king, faes," he said, greeting them all. He bowed to Sorrel, knowing that it would be expected of him there.

Silver pelt rippled over sleek, strong muscles as the large silver stallion with a white face trotted towards the four equines ahead of him. His large, friendly brown eyes took them in, noticing Sorrel and another stallion whom he could not remember the name of. There was also a pregnant mare and another smaller filly, most likely the one with-foal's daughter. He smiled and slowed to a peppy walk as he grew closer, his expression friendly and excited. "Hello all," he nodded his head in greetings to the four. "I am Cadifor, of Faoi Thionchar, located in the secret valley." Perhaps he had intruded, perhaps he had not. Cadifor was in an extremely good mood today and would not let anything soil his happiness. Though he seemed to be quite hyper and energetic today, many knew he was serious when the time came. Cadifor enjoyed having fun but he always remained level-headed, in case a situation were to arise when he would need to think rather quickly.

"Greetings Cadifor," Sorrel said, smiling at the other horse. They had known each other for quite some time. "How are things in Faoi Thronchai?" He was pleased to see his old freind and though this was not the place for errant talk with another stallion, he knew that it was alright for him to ask that.
He smiled though, knowing that this was a rather peaceful place, as long as that annoying Amani did not come to try and annoy them again. He was getting to be quite annoying these days.

The two smiled simultaneously as the other two stallions walked up. One of them was silver, with a face of pure ivory. His silver pelt shone brightly as the sun started to peer over the mountains in the distance. As she heard his name, she saw he was a king, younger than Sorrel of course but still a king. He was quite unique looking to them, and he had kind, playful eyes, which captivated the youngest of them all.
The other that had come was Sigaf, a sub herder with Sorrel. It was a little bit odd that both had come from the same territory. The ebony stag stood just shorter than Cadifor and had a similar build. To them, he seemed a little like Cadifor and Sorrel. He was playful, and he was level headed at the same time.
Monila knew there was no evil in any of them, which was surprising to her. It now was just a matter of who's personality was the best for her and her daughter. "Greetings Cadifor and Sigaf," she acknowledged with a nod. They would want to say things about themselves, to impress them, to get them to come. It wasn't that Monila didn't want a beautiful homeland or the other mares to be nice. Mostly, she wanted to make sure that the stallion she chose would be kind to her.
Tiana brightly looked to both of them, walking up, a little more confidently. Both of them towered over her, but that was okay. She'd be a couple more inches taller by next year. That was the year that she would bare a foal of her own! "Greetings to you both," she said with a courteous bow before them. Whoever they chose, the other would have still both of their respect. "Tell us who you are and what makes you, you," she said with a smile. This would be interesting.
Both of them had heard rumors of a stallion that apparently had been going around and terrorizing mares. He seemed to be out of the area now. What was wrong with him? They didn't know. Rumors of just plain insanity were around, but others tried to take up for him and say he was rabid. The didn't know what to believe when it came to that. Now wasn't the time to worry though, unless he did appear before them.

Cadifor nodded and smiled at Sorrel, his old friend and ally. "Things are going good, how about your lands, friend?" His large brown eyes danced happily as he spoke with his friend. As he looked at Tiana and Monila, he realized how much larger he was than them, as well as Sigaf and Sorrel. He smiled a bit, priding himself on his heritage, but returned his attention to Monila as she greeted him and Sigaf, smiling and nodding in return. His gaze then rested on Tiana, the hyper young filly, as she spoke. He lowered his head momentarily in response to her bow and then sighed. Cadifor hated talking about himself. He felt that if you wanted to get to know someone, you should be around them to learn, not listen to them speak about themself.
Hesitating slightly, he smiled and then said, "Well, I have a herd with three other mares. They all seem to think I'm a pretty nice king." he smirked crookedly. "I hate talking about myself, but I do believe I'm kind and caring. I'll do anything for those I care about, as long as it is in my power." It was as if it was straining him to talk about himself. He smiled half-heartedly, knowing his answer was a total flop, and hoping that they wouldn't hold it against him.

Sorrel chuckled. "That is good to hear, Cadifor. And yes, all is well in my lands at the moment." He then looked over to the mares. Hearing their question he smiled at them before speaking. "Fighting is not something I will do unless for those I love within my lands. Though my homeland is as carefree as the wind, I know that those within would think that I am a good leader. Though I can be a little playful at times, I also often show a more caring, thoughtful mindset."
Sigaf chuckled. "That you do, Sorrel. Else you'd probably more likely than not, not have let me into your homelands. I do not really have a care in the world, I leave that for others to worry about, seeing as I am no leader."

The older mare listened to them all, enjoying hearing what Sorrel, Sigaf, and Cadifor had to say. It was true, some stallions preferred to let mares get to know them, and that they would do too. Just hearing what they said was not quite always enough. It was sometimes better to listen to instinct, what they had displayed, and what they had said. Monila would speak with both Sigaf and Sorrel at the moment, and her daughter would speak with Cadifor. They would switch out in a moment. "I've heard the grass growing near the fresh water banks in your land is some of the sweetest around. Is this true?" she asked, wondering more about the climate. Monila had asked around and heard that the costal lands had more mild winters, especially Vernien 'En Seere because it was located right next to the desert.
Tiana smiled to Cadifor, wondering truly what his motives were. Her mother told her to trust no stallion, but this one seemed very kind and gentle. It wouldn't be known to her whether or not he was really what he said he was until she knew him. Tiana was very blunt, not really paying attention to asking discreet questions. "Who are you allied with?" she asked bluntly, looking down at the thought of her question. It felt a little rude to her, but she smiled looking back up at him again. Her sharp, small harks were still pointed forward, her nerves dimming down again.

His large brown eyes glanced over the young mare who was speaking to him now, though his eyes moved to the other three for a few seconds as well. He was simply trying to make sure everyone stayed on good terms and no confrontation would arise. At Tiana's rather blunt question, he smiled. "I am allied with very few, though I do not have many enemies. Stars-Sam, the stallion who resides in my valley as well, has an alliance with me. Thowra, as well as Sorrel, both hold alliances with me. And I have an implied alliance with Ashton, seeing as I am on his side. However, in the event of a war, I try to remain neutral for as long as possible." Cadifor wondered why she cared about such things, though he did not ask. He simply waited for her to respond.

"There is a lot of good grass in my land, however, it is true as you said that there is a lot better grass on the creek beds," Sorrel replied. "Unlike the other lands though, for a coastal land, the weather is better than the others, and i have wandered through them a few times."
"It is a beautiful place and the ocean's not too rough either. It's calm enough even for a foal to swim in, should they want to. Usually we would send one of the others with them though just in case danger should come," Sigaf added.

Tiana brightly took his ideals into her mind. He didn't seem like one to fight at all, from what she could tell. What she had been looking for all along was one who would not fight at all, not particularly one who would fight on the side of good or evil. One that was even slightly evil was not an option for her. She would be of three years soon and old enough to bear young. Of course, they would take advantage of that the at the very earliest time. Her mother had always made sacrifices for her, and she felt like she owed her mother a grandchild before she passed. It was true, her mother was older.
Cadifor looked young like her, but Sorrel looked even older than her mother. Tiana knew that she wanted as many young ones as she could possibly have. Her mother had often stated that there needed to be less 'hellion' blood in the world. Of course, they had seen them on their travels. They were huge and intimidating, but all weren't evil, she had found. Safer she felt that Cadifor wasn't one at all though. "And, there are many herds within your lands?" she asked, smiling, hoping that there were many there. It wouldn't make a difference in her decision whether or not he did, but she kind of liked to talk to other mares, stallions, and foals.
------------------
Monila, the older one looked to Sorrel nodding happily. There was no doubt in her mind, unlike the young one of her daughter's that they were not evil. The calm waters would be good for her young one to play around in. The soft, grainy sands would feel good on her hooves. It was true, she would go to Vernien En Seere. With who was the question that was in her mind. If a colt, you will be Legato. If a filly, you shall be Carmen she thought in her head. Both names were music, music to her harks and music in general. Carmen, the beautiful name, meant song. Legato meant smooth music. Both were perfect names.
"Are there young ones for my little one to play with?" she asked, knowing it had been hard on Tiana growing up all alone, with only wanderers' foals to play around with. Always more social Tiana had been than her mother. Now it was time to part. Monila guessed she would go with Cadifor unless she decided that one of the two ocean horses were a better choice. To the mother, she could see her with no other than the silver stag.

"Dark Sunrise my queen is soon due to have her foal, so there will be soon enough," Sorrel smiled, guessing the reason behind the question. He himself had not had any playmates as a foal. "There is one other stallion there in my lands, Bearla. Be gladdened though that none of us are tainted by even a drop of hellion blood. No hellion enters my lands and gets away alive."
He hated hellions, they were troublesome. "Only those hellions with good hearts who are no different to us are allowed within those areas of my home."
Sigaf sighed. "I have but one mare, Blood Valentine, my queen. No foals as yet."

The stallion smiled at Tiana, feeling as though he were connecting with her, perhaps they were sharing the same thoughts or ideals. As she asked about others in his land, he smiled. "Well, another stallion resides with his family. I'm not positive how many he has now. There are three mares, as well as my own daughter, in my own family." He wasn't quite sure what else to say. "Stars-Sam, the stallion who lives in my lands is a hellion, however, I trust him with my own family and life and we have an understanding as to what happens in my lands." He hoped that this would not hinder her decision at all but he figured she had a right to know before she decided if she were to come with him or not. Cadifor realized that Tiana was coming of age to have her own offspring. It pleased him that she showed interest in him, whether it was just for a home or for a possible father for her foals. Either way, it was an honor to have her questioning him.
