Name: Asturcon Species: Horse Colours: Mostly black and sometimes bay Height: 11.2-12.2hh Basic History: Historians believe that this breed originated from Garrano Ponies near northern Portugal and Spain and the Sorraia of Iberia. Neither of those breeds produce the gaits that these horses can do, so many think that Celtic Ponies also played a role in developing the breed. This breed nearly went extinct due to its harsh living conditions and environment. Many organizations have formed to preserve the breed of pony. They are extremely rare, though, in their pure form. Habitat: These ponies are used to the mountains and rocky terrain. They definitely are small enough to move through slim passage ways in the mountains, and they are also built with strong feet. They are capable of living in the mountains. Quick Facts: Asturcons are calm horses with sloping withers with small ears. These horses don't have any white markings on their bodies.
