To be registrable, a Paint Horse must have the same/similar bodily characteristics as the AQH. When the American Quarter Horse Association formed in 1940, it wouldn't let horses with spots above the knee join. The promoters of the colorful stock horses set up organizations to promote the horses. Eventually, in 1965, the American Paint Horse Association was formed by these organizations. Habitat: Their legs are strong and their bodies wide. They would be suited well for the coast or forest. Quick Facts: They are intelligent and refined.
