I would of laughed at his come back if I was not so scared of the stag chasing us. I stretched further and ran faster then ever before, to people watching on the sides, it would of looked like I was flying over the grass.

"Your father was much braver that you Thowra!" The Brolga sneered.
That made me pull up sharply and turn to face him. "What did you just say!" I snarled, pinning my ears back in fury.

I slid to a stop when Thowra turned to face the large steel-grey stag. I walked up to him and stood next to him, preteding that I did not now him, but was unable to hide it all in my eyes. "Thorwa, leave it" I hissed

"Boon Boon, I can't just let him get away with that. I've been brought up to not take insults like that," I told her snorting softly.
"I know you, Boon Boon. You're the daughter of the other horse I killed aren't you?" The Brolga rolled one grey eye at me. "You could never beat me Thowra."
"I don't intend to fight you yet, Brolga. But your time will come!" I looked to Boon Boon, noticing for once i had shocked the grey stallion. "Come one."

I nodded to the large stallion called Brolga. "Yes you killed my family" I whispered and heard Thowra tell me to come, so I span on my haunches and galloped after him.

OI snorted mockingly at the grey, kicked him in the hock and then galloped off quickly. "Come on Boon Boon!"

I galloped after him, leaving all bad thoughts way behind me.

I galloped along, I knew that my words would have made The Brolga choose not to follow us this time. I knew though that he would come looking one day soon. Next spring though, he would fall.
Soon we swung into a small long shallow valley. "Welcome to Yarraman's Valeey," I told her. "Thisis where I was born, and where I was foerced to live on my own at the death of my father. This place is my home now."

Boon Boon I followed him and stopped when he did. "Welcome to Yarraman's Valley" he said to me. Yarraman's Valley was beautiful, green plain after green plain, flowers of every kind and colour. I loved it straight away and wanted to stay here forever. "It's beautiful" I whispered, then turned to look at him. "Will he come here?" I asked knowing he would know who I ment.

I snorted and in a soft voice that also had a hint of a threat as I spoke of The Brolga I said, "Only if he wants a piece of me, or is looking to steal you from me."
Then in a much gentler voice I said, "As long as you stay on the valley floor you'll be safe. I often check the boundaries of the valley, to ensure no otehr stallion's come near."

I nodded to his reply to show that I understood. "Why would he want to steal me?" I asked thinking why he would.

"Here in the Snowy River Forest as a whole, brumby stags do often try and do that. My brotehrs included, and I've been known to try though never has it reallly worked.I try to be a bit more polite than other stags around," I snorted.
"Clearly I did not steal you, you came of your own free will, Boon Boon."

"I know Thowra, I know" I said and nuzzled his neck. I looked around, then trotted down into the floor of the valley and layed under a large shady tree to rest.
