I walked into the new land, seeing nothing but a sea of green. There was shoulder deep grass of every shade of green, trees with colourful bird’s nesting in their branches and apples of red and green and a river running though the middle of it all the crashing of a waterfall in the distance was like music in my ears. This was the place to raise a foal and to meet that someone special, this was paradise!
I stood upon a hilltop looking down on the valley below, watching for movement, listening for a sound but finding none. Deciding it was safe, I galloped head first down the hill and into the river below and splashed around like a newborn foal. After playing for about an hour I needed to rest, so I sought the comfort of the apple covered trees and rolled in the shoulder deep grass to dry myself, before laying down to sleep, or to pretend to sleep, one could never leave there backs unwatched in times like this. This was safe for now, until some stupid stallion who thought they knew everything would come and destroy the moment, and I was sure one would come, this much I was certain.
I had never fallen in love, I had never really wanted to as I had traveled. I had never met that stallion that would sweep you off your feet and fall in love straight away, all the ones I had met were dumb, shallow and thought-they-know-it-alls, well man didn’t I show them. I was intelligent, smarter than most, see I was not great beauty on the outside but I was not ugly, just kind of normal you know or that’s what I thought with my plain jet black body, but on the inside I was special, intelligent but not at all a smart-arse, sometimes I pretended not to know something just to have a conversation even though I all ready knew the answer well before they even finished talking.
I was here to find that someone special, to sweep me off my feet, someone who could have an intelligent conversation with. That was all I wanted, someone special to live the rest of my days with.
I made a low call to all the stallions in the plain, telling them I was here and wanting to meet them.
